The real test costs £50, has 24 questions in 45 minutes, and you need 18 correct to pass. Practise here first — by chapter, with explanations for every answer — then check your readiness with a timed mock test.
Work through the five handbook chapters at your own pace. Every answer comes with an explanation and the chapter it comes from.
24 questions, 45 minutes, just like the real test. Pass mark: 18 out of 24.
Your readiness is worked out from your chapter scores and your last mock tests.
Questions you got wrong are saved here so you can practise them again.
The Life in the UK Test is required for most applications for indefinite leave to remain (settlement) and for British citizenship. It is based on the official handbook, Life in the United Kingdom: A Guide for New Residents. The test is taken in English at an approved test centre, costs £50 per attempt, and if you do not pass you must wait at least 7 days and pay again to retake it.
The questions on this site are original practice questions written from the topics and facts in the official handbook. They are not the real test questions — the real questions are not published anywhere.
