About the test

The Life in the UK Test is required for most applications for indefinite leave to remain (settlement) and for British citizenship. It is based on the official handbook, Life in the United Kingdom: A Guide for New Residents. The test is taken in English at an approved test centre, costs £50 per attempt, and if you do not pass you must wait at least 7 days and pay again to retake it.

The questions on this site are original practice questions written from the topics and facts in the official handbook. They are not the real test questions — the real questions are not published anywhere.

Not enough data yet

How readiness is worked out: you are “Ready” when your last 3 mock tests are all at or above the pass mark (18/24) and you score at least 75% in practice in every chapter. Anything else tells you exactly which chapter to work on.
